The design draws inspiration from the benevolent spirit of the goddess Kali, the universal mother, who embodies the harmonious balance of power, compassion, and nurturing energy. This look symbolizes her maternal devotion and care for her children, while also paying tribute to her remarkable strength and resilience in the face of diversity.
Inspired by the revered mythological narrative, the design incorporates an intricate element depicting Lord Shiva calming Goddess Kali’s fury by humbly lying beneath her feet. A striking detail is the surprised portrayal of Lord Shiva’s serpent, adding a sense of dynamic movement to the design. As Goddess walks, multiple snakes appear to emerge and move alongside her, symbolizing the fierce devotion and unwavering protection of a mother towards her children. This powerful imagery serves as a testament to the eternal bond between a mother and her offspring.
The design involves a striking color pallet of black and gold with the touch of hand-painting to create a leopard pattern, expertly showcases the devastating aspects of the goddess, while featuring a unique blend of materials, including ultra glossy, four-way stretchable latex fabric. The piece has undergone a meticulous process of hand-dying, followed by hand painting, and finally, the innovative textile was achieved through a meticulous process of infusing premium nylon monofilament, resulting in a truly distinctive visual statement.
The exquisite design showcases exceptional craftsmanship, with 60% of the construction completed by hand-sewing. The intricate process involved stitching multiple layers together, demonstrating unwavering dedication and attention to detail. Despite the physical demand and challenges(needle pricks and finger bleeds) of this labor-intensive process, the designer's passion and commitment to excellence drove the successful completion of this remarkable piece of art, which embodies the fierce and majestic essence of the lioness, reimagined through a modern and avant-garde lens.
