Milena Djukanovic’s Alice in Wonderland / Tomorrow is Now collection, unveiled at Blanc Fashion Week Montenegro in October 2024, reimagined Lewis Carroll’s timeless characters through a futuristic, sustainable lens. The runway presentation featured 15 complete outfits inspired by Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts—five looks for each persona. Djukanovic, whose brand wore name Midju_Accessories for the last five years changed it this year to Printique.Me. She used bold color palettes to distinguish the characters: royal blue and silver for Alice, red and black for the Queen, and green and purple for the Hatter. Each look was carefully accessorized with 3D-printed jewelry, corsets, bags, and capes, all styled with whimsical elements such as teacups, heart motifs, and sculptural silhouettes to enhance the theatrical, narrative-driven essence of the collection.
A defining feature of this work was Djukanovic’s use of advanced 3D printing technology, which she integrated not just for accessories, but also for core garment structures. She utilized body-scanning technology to create custom-fit corsets and mesh-patterned garments from recycled plastic, resulting in pieces that were both form-fitting and waste-free. Artificial intelligence played a key role in generating textures and structural patterns, allowing each item to be intricately detailed and entirely unique. This fusion of science and fashion underscored Djukanovic's identity as both a designer and innovator—pushing the boundaries of what wearable art can be when technology and sustainability intersect.
Beyond the technical brilliance, the collection carried a strong emotional and psychological message. Through her designs, Đukanović explored the multifaceted nature of women, suggesting that every woman contains traces of the curious Alice, the bold Queen of Hearts, and the imaginative Mad Hatter. The collection’s vibrant, mood-lifting colors were chosen with intention—meant to evoke confidence, creativity, and emotional uplift. Backed by collaborators like NLB Bank and Pretty Ballerinas, the show was not only a visual and technical triumph but also a powerful statement on individuality, eco-consciousness, and the future of fashion. Following its success, Djukanovic is set to showcase on international stages, along with the rebranding of her label.
